Advantages of the 5 rotor axial flux motor.

Advantages:

  • Increased Power Density: Having more rotors translate to more surface area for permanent magnets, leading to higher torque and power output in a similar sized package compared to a single rotor design.

  • Scalability: A modular design with multiple rotors might for easier customization of power output by adding or removing rotors.

General Advantages of Axial Flux Motors (compared to radial motors):

  • Compact and Lightweight: Due to the flat disc shape, axial motors can be significantly shorter and lighter than radial motors with similar power output. This is beneficial for applications where weight and space are critical, like electric vehicles.

  • High Efficiency:  The shorter flux path in axial motors leads to lower energy losses and higher efficiency, often exceeding 96%.

  • Simpler Manufacturing: The concentrated windings in axial motors can be easier to automate and manufacture compared to the distributed windings in radial motors.

Overall, a 5-rotor axial flux motor holds promise for applications requiring high power density in a compact design.
